PinkFace Wrasse from LiveAquaria

As many of you know I purchased a rare torpedo wrasse (pictures here) from NYAquatic last Fall.  Well, he didn’t make it.  He was a very interesting fish and I really loved his colors.   So, I went on the hunt for another show fish. And, of course, it ended up being another wrasse.

I didn’t post about it right away because I wanted to be sure it would survive.  I picked up this beauty from LiveAquaria back around Christmas time and she is a beauty.  She is the fastest fish in the tank.  When I put in food, she darts in to get some and back out in a flash.  And, she breaks the surface and splashes me all the time!  Though they can be aggressive, she is not overly so and gets bullied by the female clown whenever she enters their territory.

The guys at Unique Corals in NY said that she will eat all my inverts (snails, crabs, shrimp) but so far I am only missing one shrimp and I can’t be sure the wrasse ate it.  Though it is likely.

So, without further ado, here are a couple of pics from when I first got her.  I will post new pictures soon, but she doesn’t stay still long enough for me to get a good shot…. arghhh….

  1. Sweet pix. Good luck with your new(ish) wrasse! Looks like things are going swimmingly so far. I can see a yellow watchman peeking out in that second pic. ;-)

Yep, that’s a yellow watchman back there. But, I must admit he gets spooked a lot and spends a considerable amount of time in the overflow!
