Over the Christmas holidays, zooty (Jesse), a fellow reefer from the Delaware Valley Reef Club was replacing his 34g Solana because of a nice sized scratch on the front glass. He was kind enough to give me the tank! But, it sat unused in the basement for almost a month. And as you know, my clownfish are breeding. But, they have been a hassle and the other fish like to eat the babies as soon as they hatch.
At the same time, my anemone split again (3 on one rock) and it was taking out many of my ricordia and my prized blue zoos. So, I removed their rock with the anemones and moved the whole thing into the Solana. I don’t have a good light on the tank yet, but hope to have that by the end of the week.
This required some new aquascaping in the main display tank because the anemone rock and their home were at the bottom of my rockscape and in the center of my tank. (I don’t have pictures yet, but will post some shortly). Instead of filling the space with another large rock, I opted to go for a more open look in that area. It will give my scoly (now almost 6 inches around and my duncan (over 40 heads) a little room to grow.
It also allowed me to move the open brain back into the display tank and out of the frag tank. But, as soon as I moved it, it started looking bad again…arghhh… This thing really does not like light. See what happened to this brain here.
One of the side benefits of this move, besides having another pretty tank running, is that the fish in the main display tank really like the open space and they are spending more time out and about. Either that or they are just curious. But, it gave them a little more swimming room and a couple of little bridges and stuff which is stimulating their brains….LOL
I will try to take some pictures this week and post them!
